Because of the camera angle I chose, we have to look up to this everyday object as it tilts on the energetic diagonal of a white clothesline. Therefore, it is simultaneously ordinary and grand. It is also divided between light and dark: warm sunlight on one side reveals the character of its wood, while impenetrable shadow hides the other. And so it is both known and unknown, which makes it like the universe and ourselves.
